Your Session, Step by Step
Know what comes next, so you can arrive ready to enjoy your photographs.
1. Keep your booking confirmation
Check the session, date, time and payment details on your confirmation. Your retainer is credited toward your collection. The remaining balance is due at your session; optional collection upgrades are chosen and paid for at image selection.
If you cannot find your confirmation after completing payment, check your spam folder or email the studio before trying to book again.
Maternity + newborn: your maternity appointment is the only date selected at checkout. Your paid newborn session is guaranteed, but no newborn date or time is held. Contact Kayla after your baby arrives to arrange it.
2. Share what matters to you
Think about the people, groupings and feeling you would like to remember. Send any important planning details to info@kaylaphotography.ca, using the same name and email as your booking. Include who is attending, children’s ages, pets and any requests you would like to discuss.
You do not need a pose list. Kayla guides the posture, hands, expressions and lighting during your session.
3. Choose your outfits
Maternity
Explore the studio gown collection for ideas. Multiple looks and applicable studio wardrobe are included. Let Kayla know your due date and any gown preferences.
Newborn and family
Simple, coordinated colours help the portraits feel connected. The studio has newborn wraps and props. Bring your usual feeding and changing supplies and any personal item you hope to include.
Birthdays and children
Bring favourite outfits and tell Kayla the birthday or milestone you are celebrating. For a cake-smash session, bring your own cake.
Boudoir and glamour
Bring outfits that feel like you. Boudoir clients bring their own outfits. Tell Kayla whether you want boudoir, birthday or glamour portraits, and share any comfort or privacy preferences. Boudoir photographs are not shared without prior written consent.
Headshots
Bring clothing that fits how you want to appear professionally. Think about whether your images will be used on a website, profile or team page. Posing and expression guidance are included.
4. Arrive for your private studio session
Your session takes place at 22 Antares Drive, Unit M, Ottawa, ON K2E 7Z6. The studio is open by appointment for booked sessions. Pets are welcome and the studio is wheelchair accessible. Call 613-558-9082 if you need help finding us.
Regular portrait sessions include up to 2 hours of photography, plus 1 separate hour for viewing and selection. Newborn sessions include up to 3 hours of photography, plus 1 separate hour for viewing and selection. The approximately 15-minute image-preparation and coffee break is additional and separate. Headshots retain their one-hour offer.
5. Choose your favourites the same day
After photography, enjoy a coffee break for about 15 minutes while Kayla prepares your images. Your same-day, in-person viewing and image selection then takes about one hour. Please allow roughly 1 hour 15 minutes after photography for the break and selection. Ask Kayla beforehand if you have a fixed departure time.
Choose the portraits included in your collection, with guidance. Upgrades are optional. Compare the collections and print inclusions before your appointment.
6. Enjoy your finished portraits
- Digital downloads · within 3–5 days
- Download your purchased, fully edited digital portraits.
- Prints · 1–2 weeks after image approval
- Where prints are included or purchased, they follow after you approve the edited portraits.
- Your custom wooden USB
- Every package includes a custom wooden USB of your purchased images. It typically arrives slightly after prints. The USB contains the same files you already have through your digital download—you do not need to wait for it to enjoy them.
You receive only the finished, edited portraits included in your chosen collection. Unselected images, unedited proofs and RAW files are not delivered.
