Work backwards from when you need your Christmas photographs
Start with the date you want the photographs in hand. Edited digital photographs take four days; prints can take up to two weeks. If you are posting gifts yourself, leave additional time for your own packaging and delivery plans.

Choose a Christmas photo palette that suits your family
A festive outfit does not have to be a costume. Pick a small group of colours and coordinate everyone around them. Rich green, warm neutrals or a favourite seasonal colour can work as a starting point. Choose the palette you would enjoy looking at beyond the holidays.

Plan photographs you can enjoy beyond Christmas
Think about whether you would also love traditional family portraits during the same session. A quieter outfit or a simpler look can give you photographs that feel at home on the wall throughout the year.
Include the people and groupings you would most like in your booking details. Parents, siblings and extended family are welcome without an extra charge for additional people. Pets are welcome too, and the Ottawa studio is wheelchair accessible.
Keep your Christmas session preparation manageable
Set outfits and the essentials aside before the day, including a spare change for children. Decide which photographs matter most so you can arrive with a clear starting point. You do not need a long list of perfect expressions or a plan for every pose.
