Boudoir
Preparing for a Boudoir Photoshoot in Ottawa: Choose Your Own Style
A boudoir session can be soft, bold, understated or glamorous. You do not have to arrive with a particular kind of outfit or a practiced expression to make it meaningful. Start with the style that feels most like you, then choose a few clothes and details that support that direction.

Decide what you want your boudoir portraits to feel like
Look through the session gallery and save a small number of photographs that appeal to you. Notice the mood rather than trying to copy someone else. You might respond to dramatic lighting, a quieter pose, rich colours or a feeling of confidence.
You can also decide what does not suit you. Having a clear preference is helpful, even if your preference is simply to keep things understated. There is no need to make your portraits more revealing or more elaborate than you want them to be.
Bring your own boudoir outfits
Boudoir clients bring their own outfits. Choose pieces that fit comfortably and that you enjoy wearing, whether your direction is simple or dressed up. Use colours and textures you love as a starting point, then choose your own complete outfits to bring.
Try complete looks on before the session and pack the accessories you want considered. A few intentional choices can be more useful than a suitcase of items you have not worn together. Bring a backup if you are uncertain about a fit or combination.
Let small details support the portrait
Consider how fabrics, jewellery and other accessories sit together. If one element makes a strong statement, keep the rest quieter so the photograph has a clear focus. Check for labels, distracting fastenings and anything that needs constant adjusting.
You do not need to buy everything new. A favourite piece can give you a more personal starting point than something chosen only because you think it belongs in a photoshoot. Leave enough time to pack thoughtfully rather than making all the decisions on the morning of your appointment.
You do not need to know how to pose
Your portrait session is guided. Kayla helps with posture, hands and expression, with professional lighting and a private studio setting. You can arrive as someone who has never had a portrait session before.
Standard sessions are scheduled for up to two hours. Explore the boudoir and empowerment page to see the current session information and photographs, then choose an available date online. Use your booking message to share the look and priorities you have in mind.
